12:48 PM EDT, 05/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy reported Thursday the Province of Ontario and Ontario Power Generation have approved the construction of the first BWRX-300 small modular reactor.

The construction of the first of four planned BWRX-300s at the Darlington nuclear site will begin soon, with completion of the first unit scheduled by the end of the decade, it said.

GE Vernova's ( GEV ) Nuclear fuel business, Global Nuclear Fuel, is a GE Vernova ( GEV )-led joint venture with Hitachi.
