GE Vernova Shares Fall After Damage to Wind Turbine Blade Offshore Massachusetts
Jul 18, 2024 12:06 PM

02:36 PM EDT, 07/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- GE Vernova ( GEV ) shares fell 3.5% in recent Thursday trading as the turbine and blade manufacturer and installation contractor for the Vineyard Wind joint venture grappled with damage at a turbine offshore Massachusetts.

Vineyard Wind, a venture between Avangrid ( AGR ) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, on Monday reported blade damage on a turbine occurred Saturday. "This morning, a significant part of the remaining GE Vernova ( GEV ) blade detached from the turbine," Vineyard Wind said Thursday.

Despite challenging weather, "a fleet of vessels remains at sea managing the situation and working to remove bulk debris," Vineyard Wind said.

"We have deployed additional crews to Nantucket Island in anticipation that more debris could wash ashore tonight and tomorrow as we continue to monitor additional coastal communities," Vineyard Wind said.

"We are staying apprised of GE Vernova's ( GEV ) efforts to manage the situation," Vineyard Wind said.

GE Vernova ( GEV ) shares tumbled 9.3% on Wednesday.
