10:37 AM EDT, 10/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- GeneDx ( WGS ) said Monday it was selected by Florida State University as a partner for the five-year Sunshine Genetics program, which was established through the recently passed Sunshine Genetics Act.

The company said the program will offer free whole-genome sequencing for newborns at certain hospitals and academic medical centers across Florida to enable early detection and diagnosis of rare diseases. The initiative aims to sequence 100,000 newborns.

As a program partner, GeneDx ( WGS ) said it will provide end-to-end genomic testing, sequencing, interpretation, and clinical reporting. The company said the collaboration marks a step toward integrating genomic screening into routine pediatric care.
