07:39 AM EDT, 10/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- General Dynamics ( GD ) said late Monday that its General Dynamics European Land Systems unit has been awarded a contract valued at about 3 billion euro ($3.50 billion) by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support to deliver reconnaissance vehicles for the German Army Reconnaissance Corps.

The company said the new system, named Luchs 2, will be based on the latest Piranha 6x6 wheeled vehicle variant with amphibious capability and will replace the light 4x4 Fennek reconnaissance vehicle.
