General Mills Employees in Georgia Allege Company Supported Discrimination in Federal Lawsuit
Jun 4, 2024 10:20 AM

01:08 PM EDT, 06/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- General Mills ( GIS ) employees are suing the food company in federal court in Georgia alleging they faced discrimination in their jobs by "a fraternal organization of male white supremacists" who led operations and hiring at a General Mills ( GIS ) production facility in suburban Atlanta.

In addition to detailing several instances of racial discrimination, the eight plaintiffs contend General Mills ( GIS ) responded to allegations that hiring and employment decisions in Covington, Georgia, were "not racist because there (was) 'no statistical impact' on Black employees as a whole."

The suit also contends "the legal team of a multi-billion-dollar company" supported that discrimination by allowing a small group of managers to "treat white employees more favorably than Black employees in a way that reduces the risk of liability findings in discrimination cases."

General Mills ( GIS ) did not immediately respond to a request on Tuesday from MT Newswires seeking comment to the plaintiff allegations.
