11:48 AM EDT, 07/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors ( GM ) and LG Energy Solution's joint venture Ultium Cells will upgrade its battery manufacturing facility in Spring Hill, Tennessee, to produce low-cost lithium iron phosphate battery cells, GM said Monday.

The upgrade is expected to begin later this year, with commercial production slated for late 2027, GM said.

Shares of GM were down 1.1% in recent Monday trading.
