10:37 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors ( GM ) said Thursday that its GM Energy unit is launching a stationary storage product called GM Energy PowerBank that aims to enable US electric vehicle owners to store and transfer energy from the grid.
The product, which also gives the option of integrating with solar power equipment, comes in 10.6 kWh and 17.7 kWh battery capacity variants, GM said.
The company said the GM Energy PowerBank can power a home when there's an outage or help offset higher electricity rates during peak demand periods.
The product also allows customers to store and use captured solar energy, supplement charging of EVs and provide power to a home even without an EV present, GM said.
