02:55 PM EDT, 08/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- China hasn't been producing the results expected this year by General Motors ( GM ) , but it has been "a historic amazing investment," the automaker's finance chief said Thursday.
"I think China can be a good asset for us and remains a good asset for us," Paul Jacobson said at the J.P. Morgan 2024 Auto Conference in New York, according to a Capital IQ transcript.
Jacobson said GM's China business "needs some restructuring work" for it to compete there amid changing consumer preferences, which are leaning towards "new energy vehicles" and local brands.
