08:25 AM EDT, 07/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors ( GM ) plans to shift production of its gasoline-powered Cadillac Escalade, and add production of gasoline-powered trucks Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra to its Orion Assembly plant in Michigan in early 2027, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.
The move would help the company "meet continued strong customer demand," the company said in a statement quoted by the outlets.
The Escalade is currently produced in Arlington, Texas, while the Silverado and Sierra trucks are built in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Both sites will continue to produce vehicles, the reports said.
The move is part of the company's plans to invest about $4 billion in its US manufacturing plants over the next two years, as the company announced in June, according to reports.
General Motors ( GM ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
