General Motors to Recall up to 132,037 Vehicles Over Faulty Power-Unlatching Tailgates
Dec 3, 2024 5:35 AM

08:03 AM EST, 12/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors ( GM ) is recalling up to 132,037 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates that may short-circuit due to water intrusion, causing the tailgate to inadvertently unlatch while the vehicle is in Park, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday.

The affected models include the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra HD 2500, 3500.

The NHTSA said the unlatched tailgate "may open and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash."

General Motors ( GM ) dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies free of charge, the agency said.
