Around 1,97,248 people have been affected by the floods, with Hojai and Cachar being the worst hit with 78,157 and 51,357 people affected respectively, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin said. Altogether 652 villages in 46 revenue circles in 20 districts have been affected so far.

The Jharkhand government has suspended mining secretary Pooja Singhal with immediate effect under the provisions of All India Services (Discipline and Appeal Rules, 1969) after her arrest by ED. The ED had alleged that irregularities were found in the accounts of the schemes while she served as the deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Chatra, Khunti, and Palamu between 2007 and 2013.
