BERLIN, June 2 (Reuters) - Germany's federal cartel
office on Monday expressed concern about Amazon's ( AMZN ) use
of so-called price control mechanisms, saying in a statement
that "this could constitute an abuse under the special
provisions for large digital companies."
A spokesperson for Amazon ( AMZN ) responded by saying that the
company did "not agree with the Bundeskartellamt's assessment in
any way."
"If Amazon ( AMZN ) is now prevented from helping customers find
competitive deals, it will lead to a poor shopping experience as
we would have to favour uncompetitive or even abusive prices in
our store," the spokesperson said.
