BERLIN, June 10 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Friedrich
Merz criticised UniCredit's effort to build up a stake in
Commerzbank on Tuesday, saying that the Italian lender's
approach was unacceptable.
"I share the view of the federal minister of finance that an
uncoordinated and unfriendly approach such as that of the
UniCredit Group is unacceptable. This is particularly true when
it comes to a systemically important bank such as Commerzbank
AG," Merz wrote in a letter to labour representatives posted on
LinkedIn.
The letter was dated May 26 and was posted by works council
head Sascha Uebel.
