10:27 AM EST, 02/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Global Business Travel Group ( GBTG ) -operated American Express Global Business Travel, or Amex GBT, said Tuesday that its proposed acquisition of CWT has received provisional antitrust clearance in the UK.

Amex GBT said the UK's Competition and Markets Authority has provisionally concluded it has not identified competition concerns with the proposed deal.

The regulator will make a final decision by March 9, the company said.

Amex GBT said it continues to defend itself against a US Department of Justice lawsuit filed in January that seeks to prevent the proposed transaction.
