08:23 AM EDT, 04/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The global smartphone market grew 1% in Q1, beating expectations, research firm Omdia said Friday.
Apple's ( AAPL ) worldwide market share increased to 20%, compared to 19% a year earlier, the report said.
Samsung claimed the top spot, with 22% of Q1 market share, up from 20% a year earlier, the report said.
The report cautioned that the growth did not "reflect the full impact of rising supply-side costs, as vendor inventory frontloading in the channel temporarily supported shipments."
Omdia also cautioned that rising memory and storage prices will result in price increases that will impact shares, according to the report.
"Vendors have little choice but to raise prices as cost pressures intensify," said Sanyam Chaurasia, an analyst of Omdia.
