10:14 AM EDT, 05/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Globe Life ( GL ) said in a regulatory filing Tuesday it has received a preliminary, informal inquiry from the US Securities and Exchange Commission to provide information regarding recent short seller reports.

The regulatory agency has not indicated that it is carrying out a formal investigation or plans to do so, the company said, adding it will fully cooperate with the SEC.

The management of the company expects no material loss from this matter, according to the filing.

Shares of the company were down nearly 4% in recent Tuesday trading.
