Gold Fields CEO: offering cash on Osisko Mining deal helped beat competition

JOHANNESBURG, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Gold Fields

Chief Executive Mike Fraser said on Monday that offering cash

for the South African miner's deal to buy Osisko Mining ( OBNNF )

had helped it beat competitors to the acquisition.

Fraser also told Reuters in a telephone interview that

buying the Canadian miner for cash would avoid share dilution.
