Jul 9, 2024 9:28 AM

11:54 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Goldman Sachs Group ( GS ) and Morgan Stanley ( MS ) have the potential for positive earnings-per-share surprises or revisions, partly because of a "sustained rebound" in investment banking and "resilient trading," BofA Securities said Tuesday in a report note.

Goldman and Morgan Stanley ( MS ) are favored in the Q2 preview for US bank results, the report said.

"We see [investment banking] momentum as having legs into 2025, driving our positive view on both stocks," the report said.

BofA raised its price objective on Goldman to $563 from $525. The Morgan Stanley ( MS ) target is $106.

Goldman shares rose 1.1% in recent trading Tuesday, and Morgan Stanley ( MS ) gained 1.4%.
