The summer season has begun well for Varun Beverages, but at the same time, the steep rise in COVID cases, especially in Maharashtra is a cause for concern, Ravi Kant Jaipuria, Chairman, Varun Beverages, said in an interview to CNBC-TV18.

“February and March has been very good; we are actually growing over previous year so we are in good shape at the moment,” Jaipuria said.
“We have launched some new variants which is ‘Mountain Dew Ice’ which is a lemon juice content category which has started doing extremely well for us. We launched energy drink a couple of years back which is extremely doing well for us. Overall for us the season has started off very well and we are looking at reasonably robust growth,” Jaipuria said.
He said the company was waiting for more HORECA (hotel, restaurant, cafeteria) channels to open up.
“Hotel and restaurants segment is not growing but fortunately for us our HORECA channel is not large; it is about 6.5-7 percent. Our on-the-go market has gone up drastically and our in-home consumption has gone up drastically so overall we are witnessing reasonable growth,” he said.
