05:53 PM EDT, 06/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Goodyear Tire & Rubber ( GT ) approved a plan to close its manufacturing facility in Kariega, South Africa, cutting 900 jobs.
The closure is expected to result in charges of $100 million to $110 million, with the plan projected to be "substantially complete" by the end of 2025, the company said Thursday in a regulatory filing.
"The proposed rationalization plan is subject to consultation with employee representative bodies," the company said.
The charges will likely include $45 million to $55 million in cash with the remainder being non-cash expenses, primarily for accelerated depreciation and other asset-related costs, the company said. About $40 million will be recorded in Q2 with the rest spread across the remainder of 2025.
Goodyear expects its Europe, Middle East, and Africa segment to see an annual operating income improvement of $10 million starting in 2026.
