01:36 PM EDT, 08/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) said Tuesday it has entered into two new partnerships to decarbonize the electric supply of its operations in Ohio and Virginia and its under construction site in Indiana.

The agreement with Energix Renewables will allow the development of a 1.5-gigawatt portfolio of new solar projects in the PJM grid in the next three years.

Google's ( GOOG ) collaboration with Swift Current Energy will help a 299-megawatt clean energy project in the PJM area. Google ( GOOG ) is also investing with Swift in a 593-megawatt solar project.

The solar project, located in southern Illinois, is under construction and expected to reach commercial operations by early 2025, Swift Current Energy said in a separate statement.
