Google Objects to Epic Games' Proposed Changes in Play Store
May 3, 2024 4:59 AM

07:39 AM EDT, 05/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) argued against the sweeping changes in its Play Store proposed by "Fortnite" maker Epic Games, saying in a Thursday court filing that the proposal "would make it nearly impossible for Google ( GOOG ) to compete."

Epic previously asked US District Judge James Donato in San Francisco to require Google ( GOOG ) to make it easier for users to download apps from other sources besides its Play Store and give developers more flexibility in handling purchases, according to a Reuters report.

A hearing on Epic's proposed injunction is scheduled for May 23, Reuters said.

Epic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
