07:43 AM EDT, 10/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) subsidiary will block any US election ads on all of their platforms after national election polls close on Nov. 5, the company said in an update to its political content policy Thursday.
"This will include US election ads and ads that refer to US elections and their processes or outcomes. This is a temporary measure; we will notify advertisers when this policy is lifted," Google ( GOOG ) said. "This pause does not include public information campaign ads run by state or federal government bodies responsible for administering election processes."
The policy was first introduced during the 2020 election to prevent misinformation, multiple reports said Friday.
