06:51 AM EDT, 07/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) will propose highlighting search results from other companies' shopping and travel platforms at the top of its page as a possible way to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act and avoid steep fines, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter and internal documents.
Under the proposed scheme, Google's ( GOOG ) search results will include options from other price-comparison websites.
According to the report, users would be able to either proceed to competing comparison sites, stay on Google ( GOOG ), or visit the vendors directly.
The European Commission has warned Google ( GOOG ) that it is subject to fines for using its search engine dominance to unfairly hurt rival shopping services, the report said.
