Jun 12, 2024 3:48 AM

06:24 AM EDT, 06/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) said Tuesday that it will launch the initial testing phases of a new anti-theft feature for Android phones in Brazil.

The test phase includes a feature that uses artificial intelligence to identify when a phone has been stolen by identifying movements associated with theft situations and lock the device, Google ( GOOG ) said.

The feature also allows the user to remotely lock the device's screen by entering their phone number and completing a security challenge, the company said.

Google ( GOOG ) said Brazilian users of phones running on Android version 10 or higher can access the testing starting next month.
