12:00 PM EST, 12/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) on Monday introduced a new, state-of-the-art quantum computing chip that has 105 qubits, a unit of computation in quantum computers.
The chip, called Willow, took less than five minutes to solve a problem that would take one of the world's fastest supercomputers 10 septillion years, Google ( GOOG ) said in a blog post.
Google ( GOOG ) also said Willow can reduce error rates exponentially in quantum computing technology by using more qubits and is able to solve a "key challenge in quantum error correction," that has persisted for nearly 30 years.
