05:55 PM EDT, 03/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Gran Tierra Energy ( GTE ) said late Tuesday that it has reached a strategic deal with Ecopetrol ( EC ) to secure a 49% working interest in the Tisquirama block in Colombia's Middle Magdalena Valley, which includes the Tisquirama and San Roque fields.
The partnership makes Gran Tierra the operator and allows it to apply its waterflood expertise from the nearby Acordionero field to enhance oil recovery.
The first phase of development will focus on expanding waterflood operations, optimizing well performance, and conducting low-risk infill drilling, supported by an initial $15 million capital investment, the company said.
Gran Tierra Energy ( GTE ) shares fell 2.4% in recent after-hours trading.
