04:55 PM EDT, 10/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Granite Construction ( GVA ) said late Tuesday it has signed a $34 million contract to bring seismic improvements to the Oakland International Airport perimeter dike.

The project will protect the runway from unwanted movement of water from San Francisco Bay and is partially funded by the Federal Aviation Administration, the company said.

Granite said the project will begin in Q1 of 2025 and will be completed in Q3 of 2026.
