08:34 AM EDT, 07/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Graphite One ( GPHOF ) said Monday that U.S. lawmakers and officials underscored the significance of its agreement to supply anode active materials to Nasdaq-listed electric vehicle maker Lucid.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski said the agreement would create a domestic supply chain for electric vehicles made in America from materials mined in Alaska.
"These companies represent the start and the end of the supply chain, and they have the right vision to help strengthen our economy, our competitiveness, our security, and our commitment to true sustainability," Murkowski said.
The partnership is also important for U.S. national security, according to Sen. Dan Sullivan.
"We must end America's dangerous dependence on China for critical minerals, which are increasingly necessary for alternative energy sources, advanced batteries, and defense technologies," Sullivan said.
Reps. Mary Peltola, Dave Joyce and Juan Ciscomani, as well as Alaska Governor Mike Dunleav, also lauded the agreement.
The comments were made after Graphite One ( GPHOF ) took part on a July 25 briefing held at the U.S. Capitol announcing the non-binding supply agreement.
Graphite One ( GPHOF ) is developing the Graphite One ( GPHOF ) project in Alaska, which aims to become an American producer of high-grade anode materials that is integrated with a domestic graphite resource.
