10:27 AM EST, 01/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Grifols ( GRFS ) said Tuesday it received a $21 million grant from the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research to identify biomarkers that can potentially indicate the likelihood of Parkinson's disease before clinical diagnosis.

Proceeds from the grant will be used for a pilot study to analyze longitudinal plasma samples covering a period of up to 10 years and track the evolution of distinct plasma proteins in patients with Parkinson's disease, according to the company.

The grant is part of the Chronos-PD initiative, which focuses on the discovery of new diagnostic tools and novel treatments, Grifols ( GRFS ) added.
