07:50 AM EST, 03/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Grifols ( GRFS ) shares were down more than 10% in Wednesday's premarket trading after short seller Gotham City Research doubled down on questions about its accounting practices.

Gotham City questioned the biopharmaceutical firm's balance sheet on Feb. 20, prompting the company to respond that it had already addressed the "malicious and misleading questions." In its note on Wednesday, Gotham City said it questioned the company's "commitment to transparency, integrity, and ethical conduct."

In a 10-page note, Gotham City Research suggested that Grifols ( GRFS ) potentially fell afoul of US selective disclosure rules by giving certain information to analysts that it did not reveal to shareholders.

Grifols ( GRFS ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
