June 25 (Reuters) - Oil and gas transportation firm
Pembina Pipeline ( PBA ) said on Tuesday it has reached a
positive final investment decision (FID) with partner Haisla
Nation on the Cedar LNG project.
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, located in the
territory of the Haisla Nation, on Canada's West Coast, will
have a capacity of 3.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
Pembina, which runs the project jointly with the band
government of the indigenous Haisla people, said the total
estimated cost of the Cedar LNG project, including interest and
transaction costs, is about $4 billion.
Canada's First Nations are buying stakes in Canadian energy
projects at an accelerated pace as they seek economic benefits
from projects on their land.
Pembina said 60% of the project cost will be funded with
asset-level debt financing and 40% through equity contributions
from both partners.
The project, forecast to become operational in late 2028, is
expected to generate annual run-rate adjusted core profit of
$200 million to $260 million.
