08:34 AM EDT, 03/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Halliburton ( HAL ) said Monday it was able to achieve the first fully automated geological well placement with complete rig automation in offshore Guyana, in collaboration with Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) and other partners.

The project's reservoir section finished around 15% ahead of plan, and tripping operations cut time by about 33%, Halliburton ( HAL ) said.

The project blended rig automation, automated subsurface interpretation and well placement, as well as real-time hydraulics, the company said.
