Harbor Health Accelerates Statewide Growth Into Three Additional Texas Markets

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Harbor Health, an Austin-based primary and specialty care clinic group and insurance company, today announced it has aquired is acquiring 32 clinics from VillageMD, significantly expanding its presence across Texas. The acquisition includes clinics in three new markets: San Antonio, El Paso, and Dallas. Harbor Health will also expand its established clinical footprint in the Austin area.

Harbor Health has acquired 32 clinics from VillageMD, significantly expanding its presence across Texas.

The acquisition nearly quadrupled Harbor Health's clinical presence, growing from 11 to 43 total clinics and adding more than 80 clinicians to its team of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). The expansion accelerates Harbor Health's growth into new markets, advancing its core philosophy that a denser network of clinics improves quality of care through enhanced accessibility.

"Harbor Health has been honored to care for more than 50,000 people in Central Texas since we launched in 2022," said Dr. Clay Johnston, Harbor Health Co-Founder. "We have an increasing demand for our care, and the Harbor Health and VillageMD teams are strongly aligned in our clinical model to operate in value, putting the consumer first and integrating care journeys, to result in better care and outcomes."

The following locations are part of Harbor Health's expanded primary care footprint:

Both Harbor Health and VillageMD have built strong relationships with payers to create innovative payment models that focus on member outcomes. The clinic expansion enables Harbor Health to enhance our competitive insurance plans by expanding the coverage we provide to employers and consumers.

Harbor Health continues to work with Texas businesses to offer large employer health insurance plans (more than 50 employees). In addition, in November 2025, the company will be on healthcare.gov, the Individual Insurance Marketplace, offering fully insured individual and family health plans. All the plans cost 10% to 20% less than most other plans, allowing consumers to retain more of their hard-earned money and attain better health.

"Our vision is to be the best 'pay-vider' in Texas, and this significant acquisition allows us to see that vision more clearly, essentially overnight," said Tony Miller, Harbor Health Co-Founder and CEO. "With a broader statewide presence, we are now positioned to serve up to 14 million Texans with care and coverage, up from 1.6 million currently. For us, that means more consumers and employers across the state can save money and receive high-quality care."

From its Central Texas launch in September 2022, Harbor Health has always planned on expanding across Texas, offering care and coverage together. This acquisition accelerates Harbor Health's growth by two to three years and continues to advance the goal of transforming the way health is delivered.
