Hexaware founder Atul Nishar sets up educational counselling company ‘Azent’
Jul 31, 2019 5:58 AM

Atul Nishar, a famed serial entrepreneur who creates and sells companies, is off to a new venture. After creating companies like Hexaware and Aptech, Nishar has launched a new education technology company Azent Overseas Education. CNBC-TV18’s Nisha Poddar caught up with Atul Nishar, chairman and founder of Azent Overseas Education, and his daughter Priyanka Nishar, VC and founder of Azent Overseas Education, who will head the new venture.

“Every year, 300,000 students go abroad to study and they get advised predominantly by players in the unorganised sector, the advisories and that is where we believe there is a need for a corporate to come in and have long-term goal where the parents and the students can believe we will get honest guidance and there will be ethical business practices,” he said.

“So we set up Azent Overseas Education Ltd. It is a public limited company to fill this gap that exists,” he added.

“Apart from that, we also have married education with technology. Students may be anywhere, all over India and how do we reach out to all of them, so we have an online, offline model where no matter what time, no matter where a student can access Azent website, the platform and get advise both through technology and also through a counsellor,” said Atul Nishar.

On the kind of investments and potential, Priyanka Nishar said, “The goal here is to reach students all over the country and to give them access to international education. The investment that is being put in that we have committed to from our family office is Rs 250 crore and this will be over a period of time. We are looking for acquisition opportunities to grow the business, interesting companies in the education technology space that are also doing innovative things.”
