Jun 24, 2024 6:31 AM

09:05 AM EDT, 06/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Multiple municipal bond offerings this week have a high exposure to climate risk, specifically high Flood and Hurricane Scores, according to ICE Climate Data.

A $7 million offering from Kings Point, N.Y., records a Flood Score of 4.6 out of 5.0, ICE reports. Locations with a component Physical Climate Risk Score, which includes Flood, Wildfire and Hurricane, of 3.0 or higher out of 5.0 indicate high physical climate risk due to hurricane, flooding or wildfire events.

A $5 million bond deal from Crookston Independent School District, Minn., has a Flood Score of 3.7 out of 5.0 on ICE's scale, while a $150 million tranche from Lee County, Fla., records a Hurricane Score of 3.7.

Separately, an $8 million offering from Matagorda County, Texas, records a total Climate Risk Score of 4.2, and a $170 million offering from Clear Creek Independent School District, Texas, has a Climate Risk Score of 3.8 out of 5.0 due to their proximity to weather-related events, according to ICE Climate Data.
