08:45 AM EDT, 04/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Both High Tide Inc. ( HITI ) and Aurora Cannabis Inc. ( ACB ) on Monday applauded the start of cannabis legalization in Germany following the German government's final endorsement.

German adults will now be allowed to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis and grow up to three plants for personal use, High Tide noted. Starting July 1, the legalization will allow German adults to join not-for-profit social clubs where they can buy up to 25 grams of cannabis, with a cap of 50 grams per month. That cap is 30 grams for members under 21 years old, High Tide said

"Germany's reform brings significant advancements in patient access to medical cannabis and a much-needed liberal approach to cannabis that we have advocated in favour of," Dirk Heitepriem, vice president of external affairs at Aurora Europe GmbH, said.

High Tide was at last look up near 5% in US premarket, while Aurora was down 0.2%, having been even lower.
