Hims & Hers Health Adds Compounded Weight Loss Injections; Shares Rise
May 20, 2024 7:41 AM

10:26 AM EDT, 05/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Hims & Hers Health ( HIMS ) said Monday it now offers GLP-1 injections starting at $199 per month, using compounded versions of the active ingredient in weight loss drugs sold by Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and Eli Lilly ( LLY ) .

Novo Nordisk's ( NVO ) Wegovy and Lilly's Zepbound usually cost patients around $1,350 per month for patients without insurance, according to a Bloomberg report Monday.

Hims & Hers said providing access to compounded GLP-1 drugs to eligible customers will help them navigate shortages and higher costs now limiting access to the branded medications. It's also a potentially lucrative market for the company, with Hims and Hers citing US Food and Drug Administration estimates that as many as 70% of US adults are overweight or obese.

Hims & Hers shares were up more than 26% in recent trading.
