11:12 AM EDT, 08/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- HNR Acquisition ( HNRA ) said Thursday its board has approved renaming the company to EON Resources.

Chief Executive Dante Caravaggio said the name change, which will take effect Sept. 18, signifies the company's prior conversion from a special purpose acquisition company to an operating company in November 2023.

The company has reserved the ticker symbols, "EONR" for its class A common stock and "EONR WS" for its publicly traded warrants on the NYSE American Exchange. Trading under the new tickers will begin at market open on Sept. 18.

Shares of HNR Acquisition ( HNRA ) fell over 19% in recent trading activity.
