02:48 PM EDT, 10/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor ( HMC ) unit American Honda said Tuesday it is recalling about 720,000 vehicles in the US for a free inspection of fuel pumps and to replace any defective parts identified during the process.
Car models from 2023 to 2025 are covered in the recall, according to the company.
Honda ( HMC ) said cracks might develop within the pump because of a faulty core in the high-pressure fuel pump. These cracks could expand while driving, resulting in potential fuel spills and may lead to crash, fire and injury.
Owners of the impacted models will be contacted in December, requesting them to bring their cars to a certified Honda ( HMC ) service center for a complimentary examination. A faulty high-pressure fuel pump will be replaced without any cost, according to the company.
Shares of the company were down 3% in recent trading.
