01:47 PM EDT, 09/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor ( HMC ) said Friday its total global production decreased year over year for the first time in two months as it manufactured 307,870 vehicles worldwide in August, down from 347,096 units a year earlier.
The output in Japan declined to 50,431 units in August from 51,162 units a year earlier, while overseas production dropped to 257,439 units from 295,934 year over year, the automaker said.
Sales in Japan increased year over year for the 13th straight month to 45,868 units in August from 40,560 units last year, and exports from Japan rose for the first time in four months to 5,756 units from 5,644 units, the company said.
Honda ( HMC ) shares were down about 4% in recent Friday trading.
