11:11 AM EDT, 08/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor ( HMC ) is facing an investigation by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over complete engine failure risk in about 1.4 million of its US vehicles, the regulator disclosed Monday.
The NHTSA said it received 414 reports of rod bearings failing to connect leading to engine failure concerning Honda's ( HMC ) 3.5-liter V6 engine used in vehicles, including the 2018 to 2020 model year Acura TLX, 2016 to 2020 Acura MDX, 2016 to 2020 Honda Pilot, 2018 to 2020 Honda Odyssey, and 2017 to 2019 Honda Ridgeline.
As the current reports of engine failures were not covered in a previous probe, NHTSA said it has opened a preliminary evaluation to further assess the scope and severity of the potential problem.
Honda ( HMC ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
