The Maharashtra government on Monday announced that people with COVID-19 symptoms seeking to enter the states from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa would be turned back.
The order also stipulated that all domestic passengers travelling from airports in NCR Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa shall carry RT-PCR negative test reports with them before boarding and show them to the teams at the arrival airport in the state. The RT-PCR sample collection should have been done within 72 hours of scheduled time of landing at airports in Maharashtra, the order said.
Speaking in an interview to CNBC-TV18, Sanjay Sethi, MD & CEO of Chalet Hotels has said, “There is no impact on business from new travel SOPs from Maharashtra.”
According to Sethi, 'staycation' is doing very well at many properties.
“People will now prefer doing ‘staycations’ within Mumbai and Pune where our properties are located as against travelling to Rajasthan or Goa for holidays. So we see a strong demand pick up on ‘staycation’ side,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Ajay Bakaya, MD of Sarovar Hotels & Resorts said, “We may see similar SOPs across geographies over time.”
The occupancy level is slowly on the rise. "September occupancy was at 25 percent, October at 33 percent and November at 36 percent. However, prices are still 30 percent below pre-COVID levels,” he added.
