07:50 AM EDT, 06/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's Competition and Markets Authority said Wednesday it is launching a probe of Hewlett-Packard's ( HPE ) $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks ( JNPR ) .

The antitrust regulator and oversight body said it is considering whether the merger may "result in a substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the UK for goods or services."

The UK CMA set July 3 as the deadline for the submission of comments from any interested parties and Aug. 14 as the deadline by which it will make a decision, adding that the date could be changed during what it described as "the merger assessment process."
