06:03 AM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- HSBC Holdings ( HSBC ) said Thursday that a trial conducted with International Business Machines ( IBM ) to explore the use of quantum computers in optimizing bond trading yielded "promising" results.
The companies leveraged an approach that used quantum and classical computing resources to deliver up to a 34% improvement in forecasting how likely a trade would be filled at a quoted price, compared with common industry techniques, HSBC ( HSBC ) said.
The trial weighed how quantum computers could optimize requests for quote in over-the-counter markets, the company said.
IBM ( IBM ) shares were up 2.4% in recent premarket activity, while HSBC ( HSBC ) fell 0.9%.
