08:44 AM EST, 01/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Hudbay Minerals ( HBM ) said Thursday it appointed David Smith to succeed Stephen Lang as board chair, effective January 1.

The company said Lang stepped down from the role for health reasons but will remain on the board as an independent director.

It added that Smith, who has served as the board's independent director since May 2019, brings nearly 40 years of financial and executive leadership experience in the mining sector.
