HudBay Minerals Secures Aquifer Protection Permit for Copper Mine Project in Arizona
Sep 1, 2024 6:11 AM

06:06 AM EDT, 08/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- HudBay Minerals ( HBM ) said late Thursday it has received an Aquifer Protection Permit from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for its Copper World Project.

The permit is one of the three key permits the company needs to secure for the project. The company secured a mine reclamation plan in October 2021 and is in the process of obtaining an air quality permit.

The company said it plans to engage a minority joint venture partner after receiving the last outstanding permit to participate in the funding of definitive feasibility study activities in 2025, final project design and construction of Copper World.

The project is expected to produce 85,000 tonnes of copper annually over a 20-year mine life.
