06:43 AM EDT, 03/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- International Business Machines ( IBM ) said Thursday that it has released a reference architecture designed to integrate quantum computing into modern supercomputing environments.
The blueprint demonstrates how quantum processors can operate alongside traditional computing components in cloud networks, research centers, or on-premises systems, the company said.
The unified infrastructure combines quantum hardware with conventional computing systems, shared storage, and networking to support intensive algorithms research using open software like Qiskit to establish coordinated workflows in both computing methods, IBM ( IBM ) said.
The company also said the new approach is intended to help developers apply quantum capabilities to complex scientific challenges in materials science, chemistry, and optimization.
