07:18 AM EST, 03/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Illumina ( ILMN ) is now prohibited from exporting gene sequencers to China as the company was added to the country's "Unreliable Entity List," according to a Tuesday statement from China's Ministry of Commerce.

The ministry said the ban is effective Tuesday.

According to media outlets published the same day, China's ban followed the US government's implementation of an additional 10% tariff on Chinese products.

Illumina ( ILMN ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Illumina ( ILMN ) were down more than 3% in recent premarket activity Tuesday.
