08:01 AM EST, 12/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms' ( META ) WhatsApp Pay is no longer subject to the UPI user onboarding limit by the National Payments Corporation of India, with immediate effect, the NPCI said Tuesday.

NPCI said WhatsApp Pay can now extend UPI services to its entire user base in the country.

WhatsApp Pay was previously allowed to expand its UPI user base in a phased manner.
